Ohioans are sometimes the real Germans: Sauerkraut Balls

One of my first “culinary experiences” in Ohio were the deep fried Sauerkraut Balls, which you can get here at pretty much every festival.

Of course you would be tempted to assume that this special “treat” originates from good old Germany. But I have to disappoint you: there is no such thing as Sauerkraut Balls in Germany; and no: not even at the famous Oktoberfest in Munich. Please let me know should I be wrong about this.
